Paul Mullally is constantly challenging himself by tackling a wide range of subject matter, which includes multi-figure compositions, still lifes, landscapes and marine art.

Residing in Seattle, Paul works from his studio in his home near Lake Washington. His interest in art history and his extensive travels have played a significant role in the subjects that he chooses to paint. People from around the world and the cultures they represent have always been an inspiration to him, as it is the colorful native dress of these people and the unique architectural styles of these far away places that captures his imagination.

As an example of his success in these various subject matters, Paul has exhibited with many high-profile invitational shows including the Denver Rotary, Artists of America show; the Western Rendezvous of Art, in Helena, Montana; the Great American Artists, in Cincinnati, Ohio; the Masters of the American West, at the Autry Museum in Los Angeles, California; and the Salon d'arts in Denver, Colorado.

Paul earned a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from Seattle University, in Seattle, Washington, and later studied at the Art Students League and the Salmagundi Club in New York. Paul also spent two years painting at the Palette and Chisel Club in Chicago, Illinois, where he became friends with Richard Schmid, an artist who has influenced both his work and his ideas about the meaning of art.

Mullally emphasizes, "Each artist defines himself or herself by his or her personal passions and interests, and each artist should strive to remain true to his or her own vision.”

In 2004, Paul was awarded the "Shirl Smithson Founders Award for Master Signature Members," an award of merit from the Oil Painters Of America for his painting, "Silent Reflections." This same year, at the Western Rendezvous of Art, Paul was honored with the "Ben Stahl Award" for "Best of Show" for his grouping of paintings, and he was also awarded a separate "Award of Excellence" for his painting titled, "La Tarahumara." Paul received an "Award of Excellence" at the Northwest Rendezvous 2005 for his painting, "Madonna Angelica."

2006 has proven to be a successful year for Paul as well. He was included in the American Art Museum at the Smithsonian Institution and now has a vertical file dedicated to his work. The Smithsonian's website is www.si.edu. At the 15th Annual National Juried Exhibition of Oil Painters of America, Paul was awarded the "Award of Excellence" for Master Signature Members for his painting, "Muse in Blue."
