Josh Elliott was born in Great Falls, MT in 1973.  He was introduced to painting early in life by his father, Steve Elliott, who is a wildlife painter.  After studying at several universities he went to learn from his greatest influence, his father.  Josh learned the importance of painting from life and discovered his passion for painting outdoors.  Josh works out of his home studio in Helena, Montana.  

He has participated in many shows including:  Tucson Plein Air, Settlers West Miniature Show, Acadia Invitational, Maynard Dixon Country, C.M.Russell Art Auction and was recently invited to be a member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group.

Josh has won several awards including the "Maynard Dixon Award" and the "Quick Draw Award" at the Tucson Plein Air 2005 show,  the "Ralph Tuffy Berg Award for Emerging Artist" in 2003 and the "Honorary Chairmans Award" in 2007 at the C.M.Russell Art Auction, the "Best Small Painting Award" at the Acadia Invitational in Bar Harbor, Maine in 2006, the "Legacy Award" and an "Award of Merit" at the 2006 Northwest Rendezvous of Art and an "Award of Merit" at the 2007 Rendezvous, the "Edith Hamlin Award" at the 2007 Maynard Dixon Country Show in Mt. Carmel, UT.

Josh was featured in the July/ August 2006 issue of Art of the West and the February 2007 issue of American Artist.
