Edward Aldrich is an artist dedicated to reaching beyond the realistic rendering of wildlife and the natural world. His style breathes life into his subjects and invokes the viewer into feeling that he or she is actually a witness to the scene. His is an art of feeling as well as portrayal.
Mr. Aldrich graduated in 1987 from the Rhode Island School of Design. In addition to numerous one man shows, he is a regular participant an such shows as: The Society of Animal Artist’s 'Art and the Animal', the prestigious 'Birds in Art' show at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, the National Museum of Wildlife Art’s Miniature show, and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum’s Small Works Show. His work has also been included in such shows as: The Colorado Governor’s Art Show, The Gilcrease museum’s annual miniature show, and the Oil Painter’s Of America National Show, as well as being included in the Rockwell Museum’s Show ‘Representing Representation’ and a feature show at the Wildlife Experience Museum. The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Bennington Center for the Arts and the Arizona/Sonora Desert Museum all house Mr. Aldrich’s works of art.
Feature articles have appeared in Wildlife Art magazine, American Artist magazine, InformArt magazine, Wildlife Journal and Southwest Art magazine. 'Drawing and Painting Animals', published by Watson/Guptill, is Mr. Aldrich's first book. Written by and featuring over 100 of his paintings and drawings, this book is Mr. Aldrich's first venture into expressing the emotional and artistic process of his work. It was released in November 1998 and is currently in it’s second printing.
Mr. Aldrich depicts wildlife from around the world and he currently resides in Golden, Colorado.
