A full time fine art landscape photographer, Ben Ham works exclusively with a wooden field camera capturing images on black and white sheet film. His subjects span from the Lowcountry of the South Carolina coast to the high altitudes of the Rockies, from the buttes and mesas of the Southwest to the vineyards, forests, and shorelines of the Pacific Coast.
Ben practices a contemplative approach to his art producing compositions that possess a presence and potency of place. His images invite the viewer to step into the world created through the photographer's eye. His photographs are rich in detail and strong in craft.
The work of Ben Ham is sold only as limited edition fine art pieces. He has become highly collected and is in private, government, and corporate collections across the US, as well as Canada, the UK, France, South America and South Africa.
The international design firm, Gensler, chose 5 of Ben's pieces for the new facility for the families of the fallen at Dover Air Force Base at the beginning of 2010. They added 2 more works in February, 2010 and have started discussions about adding a collection to an additional facility at Dover to be constructed in 2011.
The work of Ben Ham has been featured at events in Hilton Head SC, Napa CA, Beverly Hills CA, Vail CO, Atlanta GA, and Charleston, SC.
Ben has made his home on Hilton Head Island, SC since the early 1990s. He frequently travels the west exploring and searching for compositions.
