Shirley Novak has dedicated her creative passions to the playful colors of nature’s blossoms with a penchant for elegant compositions. Her design sense is refreshing and energizing—often weaving together organic forms with geometric elements that are aesthetically engaging and visually arresting for their viewers.
Moving from Southern California to Colorado helped propagate her bouquet of painting influences with the talented tutelage of painter & master gardener Len Chmiel and painter Mark Daily. Shirley and her husband and fellow artist Ralph Oberg eventually landed in the Western Slope of Colorado where the climate is perfect for plein air painting and a bountiful harvest. In Montrose, Shirley keeps her hands in the dirt, nurturing the subjects of her work. Being a consummate gardener keeps her paintings fresh and full of playful colors and compositions to be enjoyed by their spectators.
